Packed with illustrations, this book looks at the ever popular
subject of dinosaurs and highlights how these and other
prehistorical creatures show the wonder of God's creation. From
landborne to airborne to waterborne dinosaurs, learn facts about a
wide range of dinosaurs, from the most familiar T-Rex to more
unknown species. Mike and Caroline also draw in the number of ways
that we can discover more about God's creation, including fossils
and genetics, and introduce us to a number of palaeontologists and
other scientists who have contributed towards our understanding of
these creatures from long-ago.

Shakespeare Vs Cthulhu An anthologie of fine stories inspir'd by
the Bard of Stratford and the Lovecraftian Mythos Imagine if it had
been William Shakespeare, England's greatest playwright, who had
discovered the truth about the Great Old Ones and the cosmic entity
we know as Cthulhu, rather than the American horror writer H P
Lovecraft. Imagine if Stratford's favourite son had been the one to
learn of the dangers of seeking after forbidden knowledge and of
the war waged between the Elder Gods in the Outer Darkness, and had
passed on that message, to those with eyes to see it, through his
plays and poetry. Welcome to the world of Shakespearean Cthulhu! To
mark the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare,
Snowbooks proudly presents fifteen stories of eldritch horror that
blend the Bard's most famous plays with Lovecraft's most terrifying
creations. But before you dip into this cursed tome, be warned -
that way madness lies...
The year is 2035 and American society is crumbling, the police
force become judge and jury, dispensing justice on the streets.
Police brutality in response to public protests sparks even greater
restrictions on what American citizens are free to do. This is the
horror story of a descent into fascism and the beginnings of the
world of Judge Dredd.

former self. The population has fallen from 400 million to 50
million and the infrastructure is devastated. Inundated with the
problems that come with a large scale disaster, a hugely depleted
Justice Department are barely able to maintain control. Legendary
lawman Judge Dredd is on the frontline, distributing order amongst

finally lead to his demise?
United States of America, 2051 A.D. It has been twenty years since
Eustace Fargo's justice bill was passed. There are new weapons on
the streets and vast city blocks rising to the sky, as the first
human being sets out to visit another star system. New York,
California and Texas cry out for autonomy, chafing against a
federal government they feel has lost control. Reeling from news of
Chief Justice Fargo's death in service, the nation asks: has it all
been worth it?
World's Changing. Doesn't Mean Dredd Has To. Mega-City One, 2082.
In two short years, Judge Joseph Dredd has tackled hardened killers
and would-be revolutionaries; he's taken beat-downs and bounced
back; and he's even arrested his own brother. There's no such thing
as a "normal year" in the Big Meg. In his third year on the sked,
he'll become embroiled in the growing anti-robot movement; he'll
head back out to the Cursed Earth; and he'll fall afoul of the
secretive SJS - and not for the last time...

droids sell organs harvested from street trash... A murderous
imaginary friend... A psychotic composer drafting music from
pain... All in a day’s work for the Lawman of the Future. Edited
by and with an introduction by Dredd veteran Michael Carroll, Judge
Fear’s Big Day Out and Other Stories gathers the very best short
stories from more than a decade of the Judge Dredd Megazine,
including stories by legends Alan Grant, Gordon Rennie and Simon
Spurrier, among countless others…
The outer Solar System is rich in resources and may be the best
region in which to search for life beyond Earth. In fact, it may
ultimately be the best place for Earthlings to set up permanent
abodes. This book surveys the feasibility of that prospect,
covering the fascinating history of exploration that kicks off our
adventure into the outer Solar System. Although other books provide
surveys of the outer planets, Carroll approaches it from the
perspective of potential future human exploration, exploitation and
settlement, using insights from today's leading scientists in the
field. These experts take us to targets such as the moons Titan,
Triton, Enceladus, Iapetus and Europa, and within the atmospheres
of the gas and ice giants. In these pages you will experience the
thrill of discovery awaiting those who journey through the giant
worlds and their moons. All the latest research is included, as are
numerous illustrations, among them original paintings by the
author, a renowned prize-winning space artist.
Titan is practically a planet in its own right, with a diameter
similar to that of Mercury, methane rainstorms, organic soot and
ethane seas. All of the most detailed knowledge on the moon's
geology, volcanology, meteorology, marine sciences and chemistry
are gathered together here to paint a factually accurate
hypothetical future of early human colonization on this strange
world. The views from Titan's Mayda Outpost are spectacular, but
all is not well at the moon's remote science base. On the shore of
a methane sea beneath glowering skies, atmospherics researcher
Abigail Marco finds herself in the middle of murder, piracy and
colleagues who seem to be seeing sea monsters and dead people from
the past. On the Shores of Titan's Farthest Sea provides thrills,
excitement and mystery - couched in the latest science - on one of
the Solar System's most bizarre worlds, Saturn's huge moon Titan.
"This riveting story, set against a plausibly well integrated
interplanetary space, carries us along with its bright and
interesting characters. We feel absolutely transported to a
hauntingly beautiful and alien Titan through Carroll's masterful
weaving of art and science." - Jani Radebaugh, Professor of
Planetary Sciences, Titan dune expert, BYU "It's a fun read! Really
makes Titan come alive, literally..." - Astrophysicist and author
Ralph Lorenz "Michael Carroll's new novel "On the Shores of Titan's
Farthest Sea" (Springer) is a gripping, good-vs-evil tale that
sparkles with imagination. It's set on the shores of Kraken Mare,
the vast methane sea found high in the northern latitudes of
Saturn's moon, Titan, in a future when humanity has spread
throughout the solar system. The villains are wicked, the heroes
are scientists (Thanks, Mike!), the story is convincing, the
dialogue snappy, and the scenery is right out of our catalog of
findings on this cold, hazy and alien world. If you fancy skipping
forward 250 years and checking out how humankind might be
navigating the very geography and landforms we have uncovered in
our years touring Saturn, this book is for you!" --Carolyn Porco,
leader of the Cassini Imaging Science team and the Director of the
Cassini Imaging Central Laboratory for Operations (CICLOPS) at the
Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colorado

Within popular culture studies, one finds discussions about
quantitative sociology, Marxism, psychoanalysis, myth criticism,
feminism, and semiotics, but hardly a word on the usefulness of
phenomenology, the branch of philosophy concerned with human
experience. In spite of this omission, there is a close
relationship between the aims of phenomenology and the aims of
popular culture studies, for both movements have attempted to
redirect academic study toward everyday lived experience.
The fifteen essays in this volume demonstrate the way in which
phenomenological approaches can illuminate popular culture studies,
and in so doing they take on the entire range of popular culture.
United States of America, 2041 A.D. Eustace Fargo's new justice
system has been in effect for eight years. The old days of waiting
times and backlogs are over: judgement is quick, and sentencing is
instantaneous. The old police academies have all shut down, and the
new order is triumphant. But are things any better? Unrest is worse
than ever. Criminals are more likely to kill rather than be caught.
There's a war coming for the streets...
The long-awaited prequel to the other books in the "Science
Adventures with Max the Dog" Series, this instalment follows Max on
his trip to the International Space Station where he shares in the
adventures of astronaut life and helps save everyone from a
potential disaster along the way. The book teaches children to see
themselves and the planet in a new light and encourages readers to
discover how they can help make the world a better place.
Accompanying the story of how Max saves the day are numerous "Big
Kid Box" sidebars that offer science facts and other pieces of
fascinating information. Grown-ups and children learn about science
together with this fun and educational picture book.
What happens with something becomes someone? In the aftermath of an
asteroid impact, Earth's power grid is damaged nearly beyond
recovery. The survival of our world may well depend on energy
sources collected from an abandoned undersea settlement beneath the
icy surface of Enceladus. Earth-raised Colonel Carter Rhodes, in
charge of Earth's recovery efforts, calls upon Gwen Bare, a
Venusian engineer, to regain control of the deserted moon outpost
and collect fuel for Earth's collapsing power grids. However, what
Gwen discovers churning in Enceladus's subsurface waters brings her
and Colonel Rhodes' straightforward plans to a crashing halt. Soon,
Gwen finds herself in the middle of an interplanetary standoff.
Win, and give the last humans on Earth a chance to survive. Lose,
and risk the permanent dismantling of human society across the
Solar System. Forced to take sides in this war for power,
resources, and species survival, Gwen must make choices that not
only affect her own life, but also force her to question what
"life" itself might really mean. Will the promise of Enceladus
energy be enough to salvage what is left of Earth's society? Are
these humans worthy of salvation?.
How do we, as humans, arrive at what we call morally or ethically
good or bad decisions? What processes are involved in making
ethical decisions? Is there a way to move towards ethical maturity
and how will being ethically mature assist us with any future
decisions we might make? Ethical Maturity in the Helping
Professions provides a comprehensive overview of the most
influential ideas in ethical thinking across the ages and considers
the ethical challenges faced in various contexts of educational,
research, business and organisational sectors. The book reflects on
the history, philosophy and science of ethics through an
interdisciplinary approach and encourages the reader to consider
their own ethical decision-making and the influences which play a
role in shaping them. The authors also introduce a brand new model
for becoming an ethically mature professional. This book is
essential reading for practising and student psychotherapists,
psychologists, counsellors, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses,
health care and allied professionals.
